Since the early beginnings in the late 1800's, postcards have found a soft spot in the hearts of people around the world. It is the third largest collecting hobby worldwide, right behind coin and stamp collecting. Most of the appeal comes from the fact that there are postcards for virtually any subject possible, which means there is something for everyone to enjoy.
I would love to hear from you, so send me a postcard. Tell me about the history of your town, tell me about a fun place to visit, or just jot down a note saying hello. Another fun way would be to send me a postcard while you are traveling throughout the world for fun or business, letting me know how much fun you are having. What ever the reason, I will be sure to add them to my site so that everyone can enjoy them. View postcards sent to Jonas.
If you like the idea of people from around the world sending you postcards, then I have the perfect website for you. The name of the sight is called Postcrossing (started out as the dream of Paulo Magalhães of Braga, Portugal in 2005 to unite the world by way of postcards) and is responsible for well over 100,000 postcards to be sent in it's first year on the Internet. So if you want to join in on the fun, go to postcrossing.com, sign up for free, send out your postcards, and maybe you will receive a postcard from me.
Where Do You Find Postcards
Most of us have been to a "Tourist Trap" filled to the rafters with postcards as for as the eye can see. There is nothing wrong with buying cards from these places, but many of these cards are generic photos with only their location name plastered over the face of the card to make it different than somewhere else.
Now let me tell you my solution for the generic postcard blues, look for the complementary postcards that hotels, restaurants, and other creative companies place out as a courtesy to their patrons, but do not forget to ask if they are free. The important thing to remember is to be creative, have fun, and just get out and send those postcards.
